Photography Internship: Grand Canyon River Expedition
Hatch River Expeditions gave me and one other young photographer the opportunity to document a 7-day motorized boat trip down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon as a digital media marketing intern. Here is a breakdown of what that trip looked like day to day and the process of my internship.
Worlds Colliding
During my last week in Amsterdam, my friend from my school back home came to visit me. I showed her all my favorite places in the city and said many goodbyes to my international friends and the place I had spent the last 4 months.
Making The Most of November
Returning to Amsterdam after a week in Paris, I started new classes and celebrated Thanksgiving with some friends. I also visited the Anne Frank House, the Tropenmuseum, the IJ Hallen market, and an adorable Christmas Market at a castle in Utrecht!
Megan In Paris
Here is a detailed summary of my first ever trip to Paris where I finally got to meet my aunt and see the famous sights in person!
Work Hard Play Hard
This blog is a combination of the two weeks I spent finishing my school projects for the first half of my semester in Amsterdam. Besides school work, I also celebrated a European Halloween, went to the Tuschinski Theater, visited Utrecht, tried Winkel 43’s famous apple pie, and had a museum day with my friends.
Remember To Say Yes
Taking photos on top of a parade float, catching up with an old friend, talking to strangers on the street, learning to dance to disco, and eating the most incredible parmesan truffle fries. This week I remembered that although my school projects are important to me, saying yes to the unknown and living freely are the real reason I’m here.
Thinking of Home
This week I started feeling a bit homesick and I wrote a journal-like entry about how I’m feeling. I share more of what I’ve been working on in my classes and showcase some of this week’s events such as the NXT museum and the Halloween party in my building.
The End of September
In this blog about the last week of September, I explain what I’ve been doing for my photo and branding projects for school. I also talk about swapping out my bike, finding the LEGO store, The Poolbar, visiting the Rijksmuseum, and starting a hip hop class!
Finally Feeling Adjusted
Now that I’ve been living in Amsterdam for over a month, I am finally feeling like I have a life here. I go to school, spend time with friends, and explore the city regularly. I also traveled back to the Hague this week and got to see a surreal kite festival on the beach.
Time For School
This week I finally started my classes, visited the Van Gogh Museum, went shopping in the city center, and started integrating into the Dutch bike culture. I also reflect on my first month abroad.
A Few Unreal Moments
This week was full of moments that felt unreal! My Visual Storytelling program officially started with a field trip to The Hague, I had a dream-like weekend exploring outdoor markets with friends, and I had a memorable experience learning that the Queen had passed.
Getting Settled
In my second full week in Amsterdam, I have gotten more comfortable in my apartment, have started taking photos, and traveled to Brussels with some new friends.
Welcome Week
Here is a breakdown of my international student welcome week in Amsterdam. I met tons of international students, explored the city, and partied all in my first week here.
Off to Amsterdam
My first blog post about my semester-long study abroad program in Amsterdam! This blog is about pre-departure, traveling, and first impressions.
