AV Production

After graduating from college, I got a job with a local AV company as a general technician. If you are unaware of what AV companies are, AV companies provide the audio-visual technology and services needed for live events, such as concerts, conferences, and meetings. This includes supplying equipment like microphones, lighting, projectors, speakers, and video recording equipment.

I worked my way up to lighting technician, live-cam operator, and video technician, and worked tons of live events. I’ve always been fascinated with the behind-the-scenes of shows. At this job, I learned how impressively intricate every detail is. I began photographing my coworkers through our setups and during the shows, and I even got to run the company's social media accounts.

Documenting a process that usually goes unnoticed and unappreciated was extra special because not only was I capturing a hidden side of things, but I was also photographing my friends. The most challenging part was making something so messy and something that is meant to be out of sight, like hundreds of cables and large gear, look aesthetic and pleasing to the eye.
